First Visit

What We Do

We are so glad you’re here. At Key Myofunctional Therapy, our goal is to help you breathe, sleep, and feel better - naturally.
Your care begins with understanding how oral function connects to your overall health and how we can restore balance through collaboration, education, and guided therapy.

Key Myofunctional Therapy specializes in the evaluation and treatment of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs). These include patterns that affect how the tongue, lips, and jaw function during breathing, swallowing, and at rest. Our work addresses the root cause of dysfunction by restoring proper muscle coordination and oral posture. This improves not only oral health but also sleep quality, airway function, and overall wellbeing.

Our Collaborative Philosophy

Because oral function is connected to systems throughout the body, we believe in a whole-person approach.  We collaborate with specialists in dentistry, physical therapy, chiropractic care, ENT, vision, functional medicine, and hormonal health to ensure your care is complete and personalized. Every treatment plan begins with a comprehensive functional evaluation to identify your specific needs.  We provide therapy directly and coordinate with other professionals through screenings, shared assessments, and referrals as needed. Our mission is simple: to help you achieve functional harmony through informed, compassionate care.

What to Expect

 1. Comprehensive Evaluation Your first appointment includes a detailed review of your medical and dental history, visual and postural screening, tongue and oral muscle assessment, and a discussion of your symptoms and goals.  You’ll receive an individualized report and a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

2. Personalized Therapy Plan Most patients complete a 12-session therapy program that combines weekly and monthly visits.  Each session builds on the last, focusing on exercises that retrain muscle function, improve tongue posture, and support nasal breathing.

3. Home Practice Progress depends on daily engagement. You’ll receive simple, guided exercises to perform at home.  Consistency is key — small, steady improvements add up to lasting change.

4. Collaborative Care When appropriate, we may recommend co-management with other professionals.  Examples include orthodontists for structural support, ENTs for airway evaluation, or functional medicine providers for hormonal or digestive factors.
